Malone Lab for Disturbance Ecology

The Malone Laboratory for Disturbance Ecology is a research group directed by Dr. Sparkle Malone within the Institute of Environment at Florida International University (FIU).

The lab focuses on improving our understanding of how climate and disturbance regimes influence spatial and temporal variability in ecosystem structure and function. The lab explores questions related to ecosystem condition, sustainability, and vulnerability to climate extremes by using:

  • Remote sensing
  • Eddy covariance
  • Spatial and temporal models
