The FIU Institute of Environment's Environmental Finance and Risk Management Program presents "Planning for the Flood: How South Florida is Facing the Long-Term Threat of Catastrophic Flooding: A Conversation with the South Florida Water Management District"

  • Hongying Zhao, Principal Engineer, South Florida Water Management District

Mr. Owasina and Ms. Zhao will discuss the SFWMD’s Flood Protection Level of Service (FPLOS), which is South Florida’s main long-term plan for flood protection. Their presentation will highlight the key aspects of the FPLOS program including opportunities, challenges, and scale of potential infrastructure investments over the next decade, as well as case studies.
