Navigating the Complexities of Compound, Multihazard, and Cascading Events Impacts on Water Security

Date: November 21, 2024

The conference will bring together experts from academia, government entitites,  private sector, and organizations to explore the latest advancements in modeling compound events and their impacts on water security. Discussions will cover key themes such as multi-hazard and cascading impacts, residual risks, and economic implications. By broadening the focus beyond compound flooding, the conference aims to provide valuable insights into addressing the complexities of water security in an increasingly unpredictable world.

About the Chair

Dr. Maria C. Donoso is the founding Chair-holder. Under the guidance and coordination of the Chair-holder, the Chair is to serve as a vehicle to further expand and share the experience gained over the last decade by the institute in water security and sustainability through programs such as GLOWS (Global Water for Sustainability), led by FIU and executed in Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the Caucasus.

Dr. Rita Teutonico is the vice-chair.
