Salazar Lab for Plant Chemical Ecology

The Salazar Laboratory for Plant Chemical Ecology is a research group directed by Dr. Diego Salazar Amoretti within the Institute of Environment at Florida International University (FIU).

The lab's research centers on the mechanisms that forge and maintain tropical plant diversity. Specifically, we study the role that plant chemistry and natural enemies play in the distribution, coexistence, and diversification of plants.

Several topics studied within the lab include:

  • Latitudinal gradient on species interactions
  • Plant chemical diversity
  • Evolution and diversification of plant exudates
