The Liu Laboratory for Plant Conservation is a research group directed by Dr. Hong Liu within the Institute of Environment at Florida International University (FIU).
The lab addresses important environmental issues such as the impacts of global changes on rare plant populations and their biotic interactions, and conservation of heavily exploited plant species. The ultimate goal of our research is to generate insights to guide biodiversity conservation and management efforts.
Some of the lab's projects include:
- Assessing the impact of hurricane Irma and recovery trajectory of epiphytic communities in coastal buttonwood and mangrove forests in the Everglades National Park
- Orchid conservation in Cuba and Florida
- Conservation of illegally traded wildlife in South China
