Gann Lab for Spatial Ecology

The Gann Laboratory for Spatial Ecology is a research group directed by Dr. Daniel Gann within the Institute of Environment at Florida International University (FIU).

The lab links the traditional disciplines of plant community, vegetation, landscape, and ecosystems ecology as we address effects of scale and scaling on our understanding of ecological processes.

Some of the lab's projects include:

  • Landscape-Scale Plant-Community Succession in Wetlands under Changing Hydrology and Fire Regimes.
  • Effects of Sea-Level Rise on Mangrove Distribution in Everglades National Park
  • Tree Island Dynamics in Everglades National Park
  • Rapid Assessment of Vegetation Changes in Storm Water Treatment Areas (STAs)
